Le Provence - is an intimate restaurant - with back terrace
At the center of the pretty Canal du Midi village of Capestang is Le Provence, a fine restaurant perfect for all tastes and pockets. Service is friendly, the food generous, with great pizzas (evening) as well as gourmand dining. Well liked by locals and travelers alike the restaurant is popular - so to make sure of a table make a reservation. For the well fed the benches in the central square, under the watchful towers of the beautiful fortress church are within easy access for easing off the pleasures of dining. Le Provence, Capestang is 30 minutes drive from Narbonne and Beziers, and 90 minutes from Montpellier.
Returning two years later in 2004 I found the establishment under new ownership and if anything the food and service better - the back terrace much more enjoyable and pretty too! - A great place for lunch!
However June 20 2008 - this email comment was received from a reader:
On reading the recommendation for this restaurant on your web site we had dinner there. One of our party had soup which looked and smelt like it had been dredged out of the Canal du Midi several hot summers ago ....... we won't be back!! (J.B. - UK)
