pyrenees. The house is easy to access, as its 15 minutes from Carcassonne airport, as well as being 60 minutes from the airport at Toulouse. (Other airports - Perpignan, Montpellier)

Lovingly restored in the traditional french village house style, the house offers on the ground floor a large salon with wood burning stove, a simple country kitchen leading to a charming walled courtyard, with cooking area and ample room to eat outside in the warm summer evenings.
GROUND FLOOR
Front door opens into large Salon (30x20) with south facing double aspect windows on to the Street. Wood burning stove in Traditional Fireplace, TV, Arm Chairs, Desk, CD Player, archway to Kitchen with Hob Cooker, Electric Oven, Washing Machine and large window overlooking gravel courtyard. Door to courtyard where there is ample space to eat outside and cooking area with chimney.

The whole house has been painted in the tradition mediterranean style with the original features retained . This was originally the blacksmith's house and was built approximately two hundred and fifty years ago and has been modified since.

Shopping is in Montreal, a few minutes drive away, where there are two restaurants, post office, garage, newsagent and a superb bakery.
Set in the beautiful Malpere region, the house is well positioned for the city of Carcassonne and all its splendours and at the same time is surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards.
Fanjeaux, a beautiful hilltop city is very close and historically is the birthplace of St Dominique, and this is just the beginning of the wealth of Cathar treasures to be found in this area Limoux famous for its Blanquette(the original recipe for champagne) is a short drive, as is Mirepoix, a fine example of a medieval town with its famous market square.
The Mediterranean Coast is an hour away at Narbonne and south to the Corbieres, a most dramatic area again full of history and hilltop Cathar Castles. The Pyrenees are easily accessible for walking as are the Black Mountains to the North. The Canal du Midi ideal for walking or cycling along, is a five minute drive from the house.
Acces to Spain, via the motorway, is about an hour to the border and to Barcelona in a further hour. Andorra also is easily reached by car in one and a half hours.
But if you wish to do nothing, go nowhere and drink and eat and relax, this is the area for you. Leave the stress and strain of the city behind you and go back in time to the simple life.
ACCESS
There are international connections by air to both Carcassonne (15 mins) and Toulouse ( 1 hour) where car hire facilities are available. Other international airports are Montpellier (2 1/2 hours), Perpignan (2 1/2 hours), and Barcelona (Spain)(4 hours).
There are also regular train services to the station in Bram which connect into the high speed TGV rail services throughout France.
